Eve, We Will Never Forget You

Portrait

Eve Tuttle was a very special lady.  Eve had lung cancer and received chemo here locally.  During chemo she came to our meetings and was such an added sparkle when she was with us.  She was so kind and positive. She loved to create and did such a wonderful job at it.

We are so sad that Eve passed on after trying to recover from surgery.  We will miss you Eve so much.  We will always keep you in our memories and heart.  Our loving condolences to her family and friends.

Her memorial service will be held May 28th at Daneris Mortuary in Jackson, Calif. at 1 pm.  Click HERE for directions.

Bunko For Breast Cancer

On May 2nd, some of us from our group and our friends participated in the annual Bunko For Breast Cancer at the local casino.  We had fun playing together.

Making Valentine Cards

We had another sweet gathering on Friday.  Jeannie, who was going to do the water color session with us, wasn't able to come, as she was called to help out her family.  So Sheri and Joanna gathered a bunch of play stuff and the ladies all made Valentine's cards.

Our December Meeting

We had a fun time creating together "Soul Collage".  We had several images to chose from (cut outs from magazines) to use in our individual collages.  There was a writing session and then a question was asked and our answers were revealed in our collages.  It was a great time together.

Cassandra's Heart & Soul Therapy

November 2nd, we had our second meeting.  It was just wonderful!  Cassandra, a certified Neuro-Reflex Therapist and Certified Massage Therapy, was our guest speaker.  She was such a delight and gave us some really good information for those who suffer with Neuropathy, plus a whole lot of other things.

Jba4 Cassandra walked around the room as she spoke messaging our hands.  It was wonderful.  Jba3

To make an appointment with Cassandra, call her at (209) 210-8689.

Sheri and Rita put these little favors together for each of our guests.  Acorns wrapped in tea-dyed cheese cloth.  The were created to be a reminder, just as the poem goes:

"The Oak Tree"

A mighty wind, Blew night and day.

It stole the oak tree's leaves away, Then snapped its boughs and pulled its bark

Until the oak was tired and stark. But still the oak tree held its ground

While other trees fell all around. The weary wind gave up and spoke,  "How can you still be standing, Oak?"

The oak tree said, "I know that you can break each branch of mine in two,

Carry every leaf away, Shake my limbs, and make me sway.

But I have roots stretched in the earth, Growing Stronger since my birth.

You'll never touch them, for you see, They are the deepest part of me.

Until today, I wasn't sure, Of just how much I could endure.

But now I've found, with thanks to you, I'm stronger than I ever knew."

Rita's granddaughter, Olivia made this for us:

Our First Meeting

Friday, October 5th was our first meeting.  There were nine of us total.  We felt it was sweet and comfortable.  Conversation seemed to flow and we all enjoyed hearing each other's cancer story.  We also discussed what we would like to do for future meetings.  One of the things that seemed to spark interest was doing some art therapeutic collage together, so in December we will give that a try.

Here are a few pictures of our time together.  Forgot to take more pictures.  Girls

Rita, Glenda and Betti.

Ladies Lillian - Glenda - Sheri

Here are some little lavender sachets we made for the ladies.
